It all happened so quickly. One minute I was siting at the table in the restaurant waiting
for her and then I was being chased through the big red door into a street filled with people celebrating Chinese New Year. The exchange was not supposed to go like this. We had a plan. We had a plan, but she didn’t turn up.
I hear the heavy footfalls of the men chasing me as they rush through the crowd pushing aside startled people. I look around, but there is nowhere to go. I stumble as the crowd swells into a swarm around me.
I look up and there it is; a metal barrel directed to the spot in between my eyes.
