Weekend Coffee Share #20

If we were having coffee I would herd you inside out of the rain. It’s terribly humid here today and I have that horrible sticky-icky feeling that comes with humidity.

You may have noticed a couple of additions to my site in the past week. I’ve started writing flash fiction for the FFfAW challenge. You can check out my flash fiction here. I’ve also added a page for my poetry. I don’t often write poetry, but sometimes I feel a poem is needed to sort through my own thoughts. So, if you have time check out some of my writing and let me know what you think.

This week I have been getting a head start on my reading for the next semester of uni. I am very ready for the semester to start. You’ve probably already noticed, but I’m a bit of a nerd. My favourite part of the semester is the first week when I find out the study schedule and then I get to sit down and organise my plan of attack.

I don’t have anything too exciting happening this week. I do have to go to Adelaide on Wednesday as I’m having skin allergy testing done, which is the perfect excuse for me to go to my favourite bookshop in Norwood, not that I ever need an excuse. I think I’ll also pop into the Chinese restaurant I found on my last visit and treat myself to some Szechuan beef. Delicious!

I wish you all a happy week and we’ll talk again next weekend.

    Hi Lauren,
Good luck with your study this year. You sound better prepared than our household. We arrived back from Tassie a day before my daughter went back to school. My son had a few days extra as he’s now in year 8 and they give the year 7s a few days on their own to get lost etc
How is the heat down there? We were spoiled in Tassie and it was mostly beautiful blue skies with highs around 28-30. We’re having a heatwave today and it’s quite intense.
Hope you have a great week.
    xx Rowena

Being a nerd is a great life skill. I use to love that first week of University too because of the study schedule and organizing it all into my planner (a paper version not electronic). Have fun at the book store and your Chinese restaurant. Nice post, thanks for sharing.

It’s weird how as soon as I come out of the rain first thing I do is stand by the window and look outside at the pouring rain….

And sometimes nothing but a poem quite does the trick 💘

Might run into you in a bookshop one day – particularly if I get down towards Adelaide. What are you studying? I am doing a research masters but I miss the days of lectures and set work although there are some advantages to setting your own direction. It also gives you a good excuse to do nerdy things. I quite enjoy being a nerd. Flash fiction challenges are a great way to get into the habit of writing fiction and it is interesting to see where your creativity takes you. I hope you enjoy it as I found I did. Good luck with your skin allergy testing. Nice if they find something that can be easily dealt with or avoided. Thanks for coffee. 🙂
