If we were having coffee I would offer you a fresh pot of strong black coffee. My week has been rather busy, how has your week been?
I’ve been keeping myself out of mischief this week, though I’m not entirely sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Being mischievous is an awful lot of fun, or so I’ve been told.
I’ve decided to keep track of my posts throughout the week in my Weekend Coffee Share post as a bit of a summary. I posted a lot more than usual this week, which I’ve been very happy about and have rewarded myself with both a pat on the back and a Cadbury chocolate. Well done Lauren and thank you Mr. Cadbury! This weeks posts were:
- Submitting Your Work
- The First Sentence
- Terminal Velocity
- Review: Seasons of Imagination by Trent P. McDonald
- Review: My Life As A Bench by Jaq Hazell
On top of all of this I’ve made a very important decision about my future. I have decided not to do my honours degree (I would have started in six months time) and instead work on getting my editing business up and running, working on Into The Well and Cauldron Anthology, writing, and of course blogging. The main reason behind this decision is because I’ve (finally) decided exactly which path I want to head down. I’ve been tossing up between writing and undertaking further study in English Literature with the aim of lecturing at a University. I’ve come to the decision that I want to focus on my writing and English Literature research isn’t for me. I still plan on completing a Graduate Certificate in Editing and Publishing starting at the beginning of next year. I really enjoy editing and helping other writers fulfill their full potential.
In the coming months, I will be setting up my editing business. I will be providing critiques and annotated edits of manuscripts. So, watch this space if you’re looking for someone to edit your manuscript or you can contact me directly here for more information.
I will also be posting book reviews on a more frequent basis. I’m working with a couple of companies as an advance copy reader and will be reviewing the books I’m reading. I will also be reviewing books not associated with this as well, in other words, books I love so much I have to share with you all. If I don’t like a book I’ve read as an advance copy reader, I won’t post the review on this site. Just because I personally don’t like the book doesn’t mean that it’s not good a good book. Reviewing is highly subjective and I don’t feel the need to tear down someone’s work just because it wasn’t to my taste. So, only positive reviews here! I also don’t post ratings of books because I feel this too is very subjective and not at all an accurate representation of how I felt about a book, instead I shall use my words.
I will stop boring you all now. Have a lovely week and I look forward to our chat next weekend.
