Review: A Magical Bookshop Mystery Series by Amanda Flower

I was skeptical when I purchased the first book in this series. It didn’t really sound like something I would enjoy reading, but the cover was inviting and the book was on sale, so I bought it.

And I’m so glad I did.

I read the first book in four hours – I could not put it down. Book one of the series – Crime and Poetry – introduces us to a magical little bookshop in a small town with a bunch of skeletons in the closet. The characters are interesting and I immediately made a connection with the main character, Violet. She’s an independent gal with a love for all things literary, how could I not relate? Oh, and there’s a enchanting cat and chatty crow!

The real treat in this series is the bookshop. Wow. I want to work, live, and bury myself in that bookshop. I don’t want to give too much away, but it is THE BEST BOOKSHOP EVER!

Prose and Cons – don’t you just love the titles – is the second book in the series and just as good. I can’t wait for book number three!
